Maker Token (MRK) is a governance token of the Maker Protocol which is a platform that facilitates lending built on the Ethereum network with MakerDAO (a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAOs) facilitating the Maker Protocol).
Users on the Maker Protocol are able to deposit their digital coins into the system for the implemented Smart Contract to apply as collateral in exchange for Dai, a stablecoin, which is pegged to the US Dollar.
