Dogecoin was reated by Billy Markus, a programmer from Portland, Oregon, who hoped to create an exciting cryptocurrency that could reach a much wider demographic than Bitcoin. In addition, he wanted to make a different history of Dogecoin compared to other coins. On the other hand, Jackson Palmer, one of the people from the marketing department at Adobe Systems in Sydney, was motivated by students on Twitter to make the concept become a reality.
Eventually, Palmer bought the domain “dogecoin.com” and added a splash screen, which featured the Dogecoin’s logo. Markus's Dogecoin was based on an existing cryptocurrency, Luckycoin, which features randomized rewards received from a mining block then translated to a static block reward in 2014.
