LINK Token & Node Operator

Modified on Sat, 18 Feb, 2023 at 9:14 PM

Blockchain developers can facilitate and offer data retrieving, formatting, other computation and uptime services in ChainLink by becoming a ”Node Operator” for any user or business. The service fee will be paid in LINK based on the resource that operators require. There will be a “Reputation System” that allows users to rate node operators depending on their request response to incentivizing high quality service.

LINK is available to purchase on the Ethereum blockchain as it is an ERC-20 token. According to the whitepaper, LINK also has the additional ERC223 “transfer and call” functionality of transfer (address, uint256 bytes) that allows tokens to be received and processed by contracts within a single transaction in LinkChain. According to coinmarketcap and other sources, the total supply of LINK at the end of 2018 is 1 billion tokens (1,000,000,000 LINKs) with circulating 350 million tokens (350,000,000 LINKs), which equals to 35% of what was sold in ICO and presale, 350 million (35%) are for data providers, node incentive, and support, and 300 million (30%) held by team for development, marketing, etc.
