What is BLUR?

Modified on Tue, 12 Dec, 2023 at 2:59 PM

BLUR is an ERC-20 token that operates on the Ethereum blockchain and utilizes a Proof-of-Stake consensus mechanism. It is used for transaction verification and governance on the Blur.io platform, which is a marketplace for collecting Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). BLUR token holders have control over key parameters of the Blur marketplace protocol and the lending protocol named Blend. The parameters control token distribution and inflation, while voting power is proportional to the amount of BLUR tokens owned or acquired.

Who is the founder of Blur (BLUR)?

Previously, the founder and developer of Blur operated anonymously, known only by the pseudonym 'Pacman'. Pacman is a Web3 developer, founder of ZenAcademy, and served as the Director of the Blur Foundation.

On February 22, 2023, the true identity of Pacman started to become more public. One of those identities is Tieshun Roquerre, a co-founder of Blur. Pacman made a tweet revealing his identity and providing some brief information about himself, stating, “Dropped out of high school to interview with Y Combinator at age 17. Studied math and computer science at MIT. Was a Thiel Fellow to drop out of MIT and start Namebase, which I sold to Namecheap.” He further tweeted that Pacman is easier to pronounce than my IRL name, and I will be going by Pacman from now on."

According to Blur’s information, the team includes experienced members from MIT, Citadel, Five Rings Capital, Twitch, Brex, Square, and Y Combinator.
