Schedule

Issue     Activation of Passkey for Crypto Withdrawal Confirmation

Date      29 May 2024

From     03:00 AM (GMT+7) onwards

General information on passkey

Passkey is a secure and user-friendly authentication method that eliminates passwords and instead utilizes device authentication. Compared to traditional password and 2-factor authentication, passkey provides higher security and convenience to users. You can learn more about the passkey here.

Attention

  • To activate the passkey, you must complete the account (KYC) verification and mobile number confirmation, and your number must also support the SMS OTP system.

  • If the passkey is enabled on your Bitkub account:

    • You will need to confirm a crypto withdrawal by using the passkey only.

    • Once you confirm the crypto withdrawal, you cannot cancel it by yourself.

  • If the passkey is disabled on your Bitkub account:

    • You will need to confirm a crypto withdrawal by using (1) SMS OTP, (2) Email OTP, and (3) Authentication code (depending on your account setting) when withdrawing tokens to a general wallet address, or using the SMS OTP when withdrawing tokens to a Save Address.

    • Once you confirm the crypto withdrawal, you cannot cancel it by yourself.

  • If your mobile number is out of the coverage area of the SMS OTP service, which makes it not possible for you to activate the passkey:

    • You will need to confirm a crypto withdrawal by using (1) Email OTP and (2) Authentication code when withdrawing tokens to a general wallet address, or using the Email OTP when withdrawing tokens to a Save Address.

  • If the version of your Bitkub application is lower than 3.31.1, the passkey cannot be activated.

    • You will need to confirm a crypto withdrawal via email. However, you can cancel the transaction by yourself after you confirm it.

    • For a better experience, we recommend that you regularly update the application to the latest version.

Remarks:

  • Some devices may have some limitations or not support the passkey system due to it being a relatively new technology. However, you can still use other security verification methods available on Bitkub Exchange (SMS OTP, Email OTP, and authentication code (depending on your account setting)).

  • If you cannot receive the SMS OTP in some countries, you will not be able to activate the passkey on your Bitkub account. (Check the list of countries with available SMS OTP service here).
