Bitkub Exchange to Support Passkey for Security Verification

Modified on Wed, 12 Jun at 12:37 PM

To enhance security and convenience, Bitkub Exchange (“Company”) is pleased to inform our customers in advance about the implementation of the passkey system on our platform. As a security authentication method, passkey will help accommodate users with transaction confirmation and increase the security of online transactions.

In this regard, please be informed of the coming changes as follows.

  • Passkey will be used for confirming crypto withdrawals only in the beginning.

    • If the passkey is enabled on your Bitkub account once available:
You will need to confirm a crypto withdrawal by using the passkey only.

    • If the passkey is disabled on your Bitkub account:

You will need to confirm a crypto withdrawal by using (1) SMS OTP, (2) Email OTP, and (3) Authentication code when withdrawing tokens to a general wallet address, or confirming by using the SMS OTP when withdrawing tokens to a saved address (depending on your account setting).

  • To activate the passkey, your Bitkub application must be at least version 3.31.1 and accessed on an iOS device with an operating system of at least version 16 or at least version 10 for an Android device. The mobile number linked to your Bitkub account must also be verified.

    • For a smooth experience, we recommend that you update your device and the Bitkub application to the latest version, as well as verify the mobile number linked to your Bitkub account.

We will announce the schedule further along with articles for instructions once the passkey is available on Bitkub Exchange.

Basic Information about Passkey

Passkey is an authentication technology intended to replace passwords to access various services or applications online in a more secure and user-friendly way. Passkey is part of the WebAuthn (Web Authentication) standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) in collaboration with the FIDO Alliance (Fast IDentity Online Alliance).

Please stay tuned with us for more updates. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.

* Edit on 30 May 2024: The minimum application version changed from 3.30.0 to 3.31.1.
