What is cryptocurrency cryptography?

Modified on Mon, 6 Feb, 2023 at 10:14 AM

Cryptography is a method used to secure information and communication through the use of mathematical principles by encrypting a message so that only the intended receiver can read it. Anyone who isn’t meant to receive the message cannot read it. Some of the tools in cryptography is digital signature and encryption.

Imagine A and B are sending secret messages only meant for each other but C wants to get this message. So, A decides to communicate via secret codes locked in a box only A and B know the combination for. This is called “encryption.” When B receives the box and uses the combination, he is able to unlock the box. This is called “decryption”. In cryptography, they use a cipher instead of a physical lock, which allows A and B to scramble and descramble message to make this message essentially meaningless if C intercepts.
