Zilliqa runs as an ERC20 token for the time being. But according to their roadmap, Zilliqa will launch its own blockchain platform similar to Ethereum in terms of providing smart contracts. Moreover, Zilliqa has developed its own kind of smart contract called Scilla which stands for Smart Contracts Intermediary Level Language and promises that its blockchain can handle more and faster transactions through Scilla, thus allowing better scalability. Similar to Ethereum that uses Ether to transact its operations through “gas”, Zilliqa uses Zilling.
