What is a Post-only Order?

Modified on Fri, 9 Aug at 10:52 AM

A Post-only order is a way to submit a trading order on the digital asset platform of Bitkub Exchange, ensuring that the order is placed only as a ‘Maker’ (waiting for others to match the order). If the order is found to be placed as a Taker or partially as a Taker, it will be canceled immediately.

Maker vs Taker

  • Maker = A person whose order is matched by another's order.

  • Taker = A person whose order matches with another order, removing that order from the market.

Why Makers?

Since trading fees differ for Maker and Taker orders, some investors use a Post-only API to ensure their orders are placed exclusively as Makers.
