Once looking at the Cosmos ecosystem, the first zone, called the Cosmos Hub, facilitates various blockchain operations to be linked by a protocol called Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC), and ATOM are essential tokens, works as Native token and Utility Token, to maintain interoperability between all zones, with more scalability to utilize for holding, spending, sending, and staking to verify transaction validity.
Each zone contains independent blockchains that are built within the network and can perform their own functions. They are validators to check the validity, creating and distributing new tokens along with delegators who choose which one to support.
